I'm a creature of habit, try as I may to break that I rely on tried and true methods year after year with not much in the way of exploration or innovation. Be that as it may, I'm confined to the recesses of Northeast Pennsylvania, not a fishing mecha by any sense of the word, when the water is in the 30s-40s the only dependable fish are the cold water ones. For example, Brown Trout (Not trout approved waters) and White Suckers are usually ripe for the pillaging, this year is the exception not the rule, we're in mid April and we still have ice on our local lakes. This is not common by any stretch of the imagination and is reflecting in the off base fishing, for example, not a sucker has been caught, whereas the Channel Catfish are out and about, highly unusual. Fishing
4/5,
4/6,
4/7,
4/10, and
4/11. I can assure you we've put in time, sessions averaging
2-4 hours have produced intense winds ranging from
17-27MPH and frigid cold ranging from
34-60F, with water temps in the
30s and
40s....DID I MENTION THE POURING RAIN?. Here's to the start of the year!
